The Sex Offender Residency Board meets annually on the 2nd Wednesday of June and as needed for appeal hearings.
The intent of the Sex Offender Residency restrictions is not to impose a criminal penalty, but rather to serve the Village of Kimberly’s compelling interest to promote, protect, and improve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the Village of Kimberly by creating areas, around locations where children regularly congregate in concentrated numbers, wherein certain sexual offenders and sexual predators are prohibited from establishing temporary or permanent residence.
The Sex Offender Residence Board members consists of citizens appointed and confirmed by the Village Board. The Sex Offender Residence Board is responsible for reviewing an appeal submitted by an offender wishing to seek an exemption to the residence requirement pursuant to §400-3 Municipal Code. The Village regulates how closely certain sex offenders can be to schools, parks, and day care centers. An offender wishing to seek an exemption from the board must submit an Appeal to the Village Clerk’s Office.
